This morning I woke up to a crisp and somewhat restless morning. The sky was streaked with slate blue clouds, some pulled in straight lines across the sky, and some enormous and billowy ones that were moving pretty quickly in the morning breeze. Our balcony faces south, so from that view there was the dark sky as a backdrop behind the amazing city-scape in front of us. The sun was still low in the sky and somewhat hidden behind clouds, but it was shining at just the right angle to illuminate the buildings stretching out on the hill south of us. The buildings are all painted in soft, warm colours; yellows, tans, pinks with red tile roofs, and they were all really lit up by the sun, and the contrast of the ominous stormy-looking sky made them look even brighter and warmer.
I was inside all day teaching, but when I left this evening it was really blustery, and there is certainly a coolness in the air. It just had that feel and smell of autumn. I think we probably still have some very hot days ahead of us, but fall is certainly on the way.
