Okay, now for the eye-candy of the Efes experience. When Efes was still a fully populated and functional city, this library was probably just one among many gorgeous buildings. In fact, it might not have been anything special. To put this in perspective, the Temple of Artemis was considered to be one of, if not the, most beautiful building in the known world at the time. This library was just a public place a citizen of the city had built to commemorate his dead father. So, when you look at the amazing-ness of the remains of this library, you then have to multiply that by a hundred, and try to imagine how stunning the Artemisium must have been!
